About

My furniture is inspired by the timeless designs found in Prairie School stained glass windows.  Prairie School designs play a big part in American history, having originated in the midwestern states.  Traditionally, stained glass has been used in a number of stately buildings throughout the world, and gets brought into a composition, to bring an infusion of color and light.  I've worked to combine these beloved design concepts and use them to make artwork that is functional.

My creations are built out of wood and carefully handpainted with layers of epoxy to give the look of stained glass.  When it catches light on it's surface, the thick durable finish radiates with the warmth and feeling of stained glass.  This unique eco-friendly collection creates a sense of balance in a room and a focal point in a room.  The shapes and lines are aligned in a way that entice the viewer's eye to flow throughout the piece.  Since these pieces are hand painted, the linework has an authentic and organic feel, creating a small attempt to break away from the rigid and machine made look that is commonly seen, today.

My professional life has included a depth of experiences with a start in the art world working as a caricature artist.  Later my drafting skills got me into custom woodwork and cabinetry in the architectural millwork field, where I learned about designing and building custom cabinetry and woodwork.  Now it's become a hobby to building my own furniture in my basement.  I first sparked an interest in furniture making when I was a kid and my grandpa would build custom furniture for loved ones, in his basement.  He always enjoyed woodworking and making crafts in his free time and I inherited that appreciation for the craft.

When not making furniture and artwork, I can be found making the most of the outdoor activities in Minnesota.  I make the most of our long winters spending time downhill skiing, playing hockey, or just getting out in the snow with my kids.  Other times of year give me a chance to get out on the lakes, ride bicycles, or go on an adventure traveling the world with friends and family.
